The Technology Education Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and innovative instruction in technology, engineering, and design. This role emphasizes project-based learning, critical thinking, and 21st-century skills development to prepare students for future careers in technology and engineering fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instructional Planning and Delivery:
    • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and district goals.
    • Incorporate hands-on learning, collaborative projects, and real-world applications.
    • Teach courses in areas such as robotics, computer-aided design (CAD), coding, cybersecurity, electronics, engineering, and other STEM-related fields.
  2. Classroom Management:
    • Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and organized classroom environment.
    • Ensure the safe use of tools, machinery, and technology.
    • Uphold classroom rules and manage student behavior effectively.
  3. Student Engagement and Support:
    • Foster a growth mindset and encourage student creativity and innovation.
    • Support diverse learners, including those in special education and gifted programs.
    • Provide regular feedback on student progress and achievements.
  4. Collaboration and Professional Development:
    • Work with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and align curricula.
    • Participate in professional learning communities, workshops, and conferences.
    • Stay updated on advancements in technology and education practices.
  5. Program Management:
    • Maintain and manage technology labs, equipment, and materials.
    • Develop partnerships with local businesses and organizations for internships, mentorships, and funding opportunities.
    • Promote the program through showcases, community events, and competitions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technology Education or a related field.
  • Certification: Valid teaching certification in Technology Education and valid PA certification
  • Experience: Classroom teaching experience preferred; industry experience in technology fields is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in modern educational technology tools and platforms.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to engage students in active and hands-on learning.

Working Conditions:

  • Classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Occasional evening or weekend activities for events or competitions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate and demonstrate tools and machinery safely.
  • Capacity to lift and move equipment as needed (e.g., computers, materials).
